movin' on in...

wow. who would have thought a teeny tiny studio could hold 2 people's stuff? well, barely. which explains why there are no photos of my apartment yet. its waaay too messy to show in public and i still have 1 unpacked suitcase and a toaster oven sitting on the floor.

there's no closet space
(because 1/2 of it is his shirts)
there's no kitchen counter space
(because i only have 1 counter which is the size of 2 chopping boards)
there's no under bed space
(because i got a low bed and my bedlinens are under there already)
there's no shelf space
(because we've used it all to store clothes, bags, shoes...)

i think i'm due for another trip to Ikea and the Container Store thanks to some of my mom's smart ideas. its an organizational challenge to keep this apartment not looking like tornado invaded it! but on the other hand, its nice to have someone to come home to and someone to snuggle up to at night :)

columbus, oh

i'm tired. i've been flying around non-stop, literally.
back in new york from vancouver, only to take off again the very next morning to columbus, for training. but its all worth it since i was flown in the corporate plane, served drinks, food etc and then put up in a brand new Hamptons Inn with FREE internet & a large LCD flat screen tv and all meals taken care of. I feel spoilt - hello corporate life! but clearly, this isn't always the case but you have to admit, a company with their own flight department is pretty darn sweet.

networking is tiring too. trying to get the attention of managers, VPs and directors amidst 60 over people can be challenging. i've got 1 more day of training/orientation and then they're flying me home. ahhh...home. and then its off to Cape Cod to join J for an all expenses paid weekend! thank you, Bain! :D

kissing cousins

i love daiso

today i made my usual pilgrimage to the best $2 store ever, Daiso and bought practically the entire store to stock up my tiny little apartment with goodies for my kitchen & bathroom. its one of those stores where you can walk in not wanting to buy anything and leaving $200 worth of randomness. its amazing what you can find it Daiso, anything from my personal favourite black, ribbed cotton swabs for ear cleaning to lavander scented deodourizers. i also picked up random bathroom essentials, bobby pins, travel sized bottles, toiletry cases, hair catchers and a crap load of nonsense which i probably have no room for.

have u been to Daiso today?

Summer in AK

Summer 2008: Alaska

I just got home from cruising the Inside Passage, along with 13 members of my family clan. I think I need a vacation from my vacation. 14 people in one house is a lot but its a once in a lifetime experience. When we will all 14 family members' life schedules ever be the same again???

It was a pretty relaxing cruise, for those of you who like it slow and easy. The ports are as follows: Ketchikan, Juneau, Sitka - with a choice of on shore excursions to participate in. My most memorable moment? Whale-watching off the coast of Juneau, and catching a glimpse of not only the magnificent humpbacks but the exceptionally rare glimpse of a pod of orcas (not resident to Alaska). The glaciers and mountains were glorious!
