Consumed by Love

A dear friend of mine sent me this poem by Mary Frye to mourn a loss we both share:

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

Thanks Jenn. I believe they're having tea & cupcakes up there, just like we do!

Oscar picks

Congratulations to Danny Boyle and Slumdog Millionaire!
I was a little disappointed that Benjamin Button didn't win anything. I've also made a note to see many more of the nominated movies. But no Oscars is complete without oohh-ing & ahh-ing over the beautiful gowns & couture. Here are my fashion faves of the night:

Suburb Alert!

Beauty junkies Rejoice! There's another addition to much anticipated Sephora arrival to Vancouver. Along with the eagerly awaited location in Pacific Centre in downtown, I've discovered that Coquitlam Centre is getting its very own Sephora too! Right across from H&M! Yay!

Happy Valentine's

A night's stay at Le Soleil was divine.
A soft, plush king sized bed, chocolate fondue, Inniskillin, 2 large LCD tvs, bubble tea, dinner @ guu, warm sake and lotsa cuddles were all that made this Valentine's perfect.
Hope yours was just as special.

Newsflash

I've discovered that its possible to dilate your own pupils. I did and then spent the next 36 uncomfortable hours functioning with 1 eye.

moral of the story? wash your hands after handling ALL medication!

Lego Perspective: NYC

Whilst browsing my usual list of blogs I came across these wonderful photos by Christoph Niemann, who reminisces of NYC in this delightful way:

Mrs Roosevelt was a wise woman

I read this today which hit close to home for me:

“A mature person is one who is does not think only in absolutes, who is able to be objective even when deeply stirred emotionally, who has learned that there is both good and bad in all people and all things, and who walks humbly and deals charitably”

~ Eleanor Roosevelt

Thanks for sharing it Sunny! It made my day :)

Spring 09 window shop

Being back in Manhattan means I get to check out the retailers spring trends via my favourite past time - window shopping. I browsed one of my favourite retailers today for the latest season's looks translated into affordable, fast fashion and was pleasantly surprised! So much so, I had to hold myself back from whipping out my credit card & swiping it all on new clothes for Spring. Despite the economic downturn, Spring fashion is still fresh and very affordable!

H&M has a to-die-for Spring 09 collection!! I wanted EVERYTHING I saw. Billowy tops and bottoms, lots and lots of volume. Icy pastel palettes, florals and lots of neutrals like taupe. Tulip skirts, dresses, tops. Lots of layers - cupcake style on tops & skirts. Ruffles & sheers seen on everything. Here are some pieces I spotted in-stores today:
